The Rural Secretariat has developed detailed, regional profiles for each
of the nine regions of the province. This information allows government,
citizens, community organizations and other users to look at a region
and examine its socio-economic, demographic and municipal status and to
determine what infrastructure is available.
The profiles also serve as baseline or benchmark indicators that
allow users to examine change and progress over time. What is happening
to the population? Are more people working? Are incomes rising? What are
our health practices? How does one region of the province compare with
others in terms of performance on any indicator?
The [provincial profile on this website] is a summary version of some
of the key indicators used. All data in the profile is available through
the Community Accounts or was provided by various government
departments.
Users that wish to learn more about the data or to probe for
additional information on the regions may access the Community Accounts
website at
www.communityaccounts.ca or contact the Rural Secretariat at
729-0168.
