Government / Community Liaison

The liaison service exists to expand the Office of French Services’ (OFS) network of contacts throughout government, to encourage and facilitate dialogue and cooperation between departments and francophone organizations, to develop strategies for the delivery of services in French and to assist the francophone community in achieving developmental goals.

The OFS communicates regularly with its counterparts in other provinces and territories (RGAF website: www.afi-ifa.ca), as well as with the federal government, to promote the interests of Canada’s francophonie and to advance francophone affairs issues throughout the public service. To this end, it is responsible for providing advice and guidance to the Minister responsible for Francophone Affairs.
