French Language Training

In order to carry out its mandate, the Office of French Services offers French language training to employees of the provincial government. Classes are available in the daytime or evening.

The training year is divided into three sessions: two 14-week semesters in the fall and winter and a 6-week session in the spring. In each of the fall and winter semesters, participants complete one of the 16 modules that make up the curriculum of the training program. The spring session does not follow the objectives of those 16 modules but rather is a conversation-oriented course, offered only to participants who have completed at least one of the two 14-week semesters in the same training year.

In order to ensure optimal success in this program, participants are encouraged to do all three sessions. However it is possible to register for just one or two of the three sessions offered. In other words, applicants may join the training program in the fall or in the winter.

In addition to the 16 modules of the training program, there is an advanced level (Maintien de l’acquis) offered to employees who already have a high level of proficiency in French and wish to maintain it.
