Accommodation involves the identification and implementation of work processes, tools and technology that assist an individual to be successful in the workplace.
Many people, with or without disabilities, benefit from technical aids, equipment, and modifications that make jobs or workplaces more suited to their abilities and requirements. Job Accommodation may involve something as simple as raising the height of a chair/desk or modifying work schedules. For everyone, accommodation results in improved employee productivity and working conditions.
The Information Resource Centre houses a comprehensive print and video resource library which is available for use by departments. managers can obtain assistance in accessing library materials or gain further information on the services provided by the Centre, by contacting the Office
As part of Government's Resource Management Training Package, the Office of the Employment Equity For Persons With Disabilities delivers a disability awareness workshop aimed to identify the purpose and goals of the Office and it's programs and services. It also explains what the Office can do for your department and how to avail of it's use, teaches you how the Office supports government managers regarding related employment issues for persons with disabilities, and addresses specific issues related to the employment of persons with disabilities in the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Service
