Welcome to the Women's Policy Office home page. As Minister Responsible for the Status of Women, I am very pleased to have this web site to communicate the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's activities as they relate to women's issues.

The Women's Policy Office works closely with Ministries to ensure a coordinated approach to policy and planning. WPO also conducts public education and research within government for the benefit of women in the province. The Women’s Policy Office is also the lead department responsible for the Violence Prevention Initiative, the Provincial Government's six year, multi-departmental, $9.2 million investment to find long term solutions to the problem of violence against those most at risk in our society.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador is committed to improving the economic, legal, and social status of women in our province through the work of the Women’s Policy Office in liaison with all other departments.
