Colleen Janes, Health and Community Services
As
the Director of the Pharmaceutical Services Division in Health and Community
Services, Colleen
Janes’ involvement and efforts are respected by her peers, locally and
nationally. She is a driving force in identifying new and innovative ways to
improve service delivery to clients. She consistently seeks the advice and input
of front-line employees and merges it with the latest pharmaceutical knowledge
and technological expertise to achieve exceptional outcomes.
From day-to-day activities to participation in numerous committees, projects and
working groups, Colleen continuously creates a positive atmosphere while working
at levels of high demand and expertise. She uses a multitude of technological
means to improve the efficiency of handling the workload and has been
instrumental in preparing the documentation to assist government in its review
of a real-time, on-line prescription drug adjudication system.
Colleen has been diligent in ensuring that drug approvals meet departmental
policy and that policy is rooted in evidence. Her leadership has garnered
respect for Colleen within her own division, across divisions with the Medical
Services Branch, across branches within the department, and nationally.
She
has applied the art of her profession to translate the evidence provided at the
Atlantic and national levels to provincial policy that has the maximum benefit
for those affected by the provincial prescription drug program.
As a leader, Colleen manages and inspires her team, to reach higher and higher
for her, for themselves, and for the division overall. She has been labeled a
visionary, a person who warrants respect and an individual who cultivates a
respectful working environment. The citizens of Newfoundland and Labrador are
the benefactors of Colleen’s vision and leadership. She is an exceptional
manager, a genuine person and epitomizes the qualities for which the Public
Service Award of Excellence was established.
